As part of a major rebranding, diagnostic imaging provider Euromedic is to change its name to Affidea, as well as investing €15m to create 100 jobs over the next 18 months.
Currently employing more than 135 staff at its seven centres, Affidea under the Euromedic name entered the Irish market following the acquisition of MRI Ireland back in 2007.
According to The Irish Times, Affidea has said that it expects to create jobs across a mix of clinical and administrative roles.
As part of the rebranding, its Dundrum branch is to be the first to undergo the name change, with its other branches changing their names by the end of this month.
In particular, the company hopes to expand its offering of gamma knife treatment, which applies a single, finely-focused, high dose of radiation to its target, while causing little or no damage to surrounding tissue, typically for the treatment of small to medium brain tumours.
Speaking of the creation of these new roles, Affidea’s chief executive Tom Finn said: “The creation of over 100 new jobs means that our current and new clinics will be able to serve a greater number of patients, quickly, professionally and to the highest of standards. At Affidea we are passionate about health and compassionate towards people because, ultimately, nothing is more important than health. We believe in ‘open access to all’ and the provision of a ‘privately provided’ healthcare approach being adopted in Ireland.”
To date, the company has invested €55m in the Irish economy, with the most recent being the acquisition of Vista Medical Imaging back in May, which is based in Naas, Co Kildare.
