In our employer insights series, Stephen Ashmore, head of tech services for Fidelity Investments in Ireland, discusses the numerous roles his team will look to fill this year.
Fidelity Investments has been recruiting every year since it formed in Ireland in 1996, including recruiting from its current graduate intake programme.
“We’ve been pretty successful in filling the roles that we need to fill. It’s safe to say that the IT market is particularly buoyant at the moment, so it’s competitive out there,” said Ashmore.
“In particular, we’re seeing competition around data skills, so, data engineering, data analysis, data visualisation. We’re also seeing competition around the UI space … and you will always have competition around niche areas, such as Salesforce.”
Fidelity Investments wants people of the right fit, looking to progress their career with an ability to adapt to projects throughout the world. And it’s not just down to technical skills, either.
“What differentiates applicants is the potential in somebody. For example, for certain roles it may not be absolutely necessary to have 100pc of the tech skills, but you can demonstrate your ability to learn, and your ability to take that on.”
