This week really blew the lid off the Irish jobs market, with an incredible 1,594 jobs announced throughout the country.
It saw a massive announcement from health recruiter TTM, which brought 500 new roles to the jobs market, Veolia and First Data, who added 300 apiece, and Accenture, which created 250.
At least some of those jobs will likely be on offer at Career Zoo’s spring event, taking place in The Convention Centre Dublin on Saturday 20 February. Career Zoo has now announced that registration is open for the event, which will be headline sponsored by Etsy.
This week also saw the Irish Government release its final jobs plan, which targets the creation of 50,000 jobs in the private sector.
Perhaps some of these will be offered at Version 1, which has been named as one of Silicon Republic’s Employers to Watch 2016.
Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to get a chance at one of the many roles that are about to enter the jobs market. Just remember not to include any buzzwords like ‘motivated’ or ‘enthusiastic’ on your LinkedIn profile when you’re applying.

Though if you’re graduating from secondary school this year, we’re sorry to tell you you’re going to be missing out. This summer, Irish secondary school teachers will be able to take part in the Space Awareness Summer School 2016, taking place near Athens, Greece. The course will introduce the teachers to methods of encouraging pupils into science-and-space-related fields of study.
Continuing the education theme for a moment, this week also saw the World Economic Forum occupying Davos, Switzerland. CoderDojo and EU Digital Girl of the Year Niamh Scanlon were on hand to teach local school kids – and Will.I.Am – coding and IoT basics.
Finally, we took a look at one of the many extraordinary people working in tech in Ireland. Karen Duggan is an analyst in Accenture in her day job. After work, though, she lines out for the Irish international football team. Impressive.

TTM Healthcare is looking to hire 500 people over the next five years on the back of an investment from Broadlake, which has taken a 30pc stake in the company.

French environmental services group Veolia is targeting significant growth in Ireland, announcing 300 jobs as we “transition to a low-carbon economy”.

Global payments giant First Data is to locate 300 new jobs at a major R&D facility in Nenagh, Co Tipperary. First Data’s new facility will be the company’s first Irish location outside of Dublin.
4. 250 more jobs announced at Accenture in Dublin
Professional services company Accenture has announced a further 250 jobs for 2016, on top of 200 announced last September, rounding out to 450 jobs announced in just a few months.
5. Career Zoo to focus on company culture as Etsy revealed as sponsor
The Convention Centre Dublin will once more play host to Career Zoo, with global craft giants Etsy headline sponsoring the Saturday 20 February event.
