After the highs and lows of last week’s tech scene, this week was significantly more positive, with jobs announcements and industry growth making the headlines.
More than 100 jobs have been announced since Monday, with Ellucian and Numerix bringing a combined 80 to the capital and GlaxoSmithKline bringing 25 to Sligo.
Some of those jobs may very well be filled by people moving to Ireland from abroad, and we have them covered. This week, we took a look back at some of the people we’ve spoken to who have moved to Ireland from India for work.
Support for existing jobs was evident during the week, with Pramerica and Letterkenny Institute of Technology providing Donegal’s ICT teachers with a masterclass in coding and programming.
The rest of this week’s news was positive and reassuring for those qualified to work in the tech arena.
Morgan McKinley released their monthly Irish Employment Monitor, which stated that there has been significant growth in the IT sector, driven predominantly by jobs in security and .Net development.
In a more specialist arena, it was revealed that 3D printing jobs are becoming more in-demand than ever before, with non-industry-specific companies seeking hires with skills in 3D printing.
And finally, our weekly jobs close-up focuses on the medical industry, taking a ‘humerus’ (sorry) look at the ins and outs of being a doctor.
