In our employer insights series, Accenture Ireland’s technology lead Hilary O’Meara gives us an insight into what it’s like to work for the management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.
Accenture – which recently appeared on Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list – employs 270,000 people worldwide, 1,600 of whom are based here in Ireland. O’Meara herself joined Accenture as a graduate and has been working there ever since, and she says the company is looking for highly motivated and high-energy people with third-level qualifications.
Over the past weekend, rugby fans may have noticed Accenture’s name cropping up as official technology partner of the RBS Six Nations Championship. In this capacity, Accenture provides analytics and insights into what’s happening on the pitch, bringing you those stats you hear throughout the games. Accenture also built a mobile app for the tournament with real-time information and video streams, showing the diverse range of projects and services the staff here are involved in.
Right now, Accenture Ireland is seeking to add project managers, programmers, testers and technical architects to its team, including roles in the key growth sectors in tech: cloud and analytics.
In Accenture’s analytics division in Dublin, a team of 40 is working on next-generation solutions, including analytics systems for sports fans to follow and predict match outcomes, anti-fraud and compliance systems, and safe city policing systems for the city of Singapore. Recently, Edel Lynch, who heads up this division, tipped data scientist as one of the hottest jobs of the 21st century.
The team at Accenture also partnered with Silicon Republic on research into attracting more young women into science and technology as part of our Women Invent Tomorrow campaign.
