In our employer insights series, Carmel Mitchell, human resources director with Fidelity Investments, talks to us about what it’s like to work for such a world-renowned financial services company.
Now in its 18th year in Ireland, Fidelity Investments chose the country as the location for its first non-US technical and operations centre – it’s the company’s only such European presence today.
Fidelity’s focus is to provide technology and operational business services to a diverse set of the firm’s businesses in the US, Europe and Asia, with company values key to its success.
“These values are integrity, respect and collaboration. These are all at the heart of our work,” explains Mitchell.
With facilities in Dublin and Galway, the company employs about 600 people, with more than 20 jobs advertised on Fidelity Ireland’s jobs page at the moment.
“We provide training and support to associates to invest and develop their own careers. We invest a huge amount of funding in technology each year, to ensure that our associates stay state-of-the-art in any given technology, at any one time,” Mitchell says.
“Our customers are diverse in age, location, culture and gender so we embrace inclusivity and diversity across our organisation. We recognise that by embracing diversity, we can draw from a wide pool of candidates who provide a variety of viewpoints, which leads to greater creativity, innovation and adaptability to change.”
