Information Technology Shared Services, a division of Johnson & Johnson, plans to create up to 100 new jobs with its new development centre at the National Technology Park in Limerick.
The company will now begin recruiting for the various IT roles that are being described as highly skilled, with the positions expected to be filled over the next two years.
Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiaries have had a significant presence in Ireland since 1935. These new jobs will take its employee numbers to a total of 2,100 across Dublin, Cork and Limerick.
“Today’s announcement that Johnson & Johnson Services, Inc is creating new technology jobs in a new development centre is a great example of how we like to see companies widen their base of activities in Ireland once they have established a successful operation here,” said Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland.
Also commenting on the jobs boost for Limerick, Minister of Education and Skills Jan O’Sullivan, TD, said, “This is more positive jobs news for Limerick and I am delighted that Johnson & Johnson is expanding its operations in the city again.
“The close collaboration between Johnson & Johnson, LIT (Limerick Institute of Technology) and UL (University of Limerick) to enhance the city as an IT hub by providing skilled talent has been central to winning this investment for the mid-west,” O’Sullivan added.
“This significant investment will further enhance Limerick’s reputation as a dynamic hub for the growing information services sector.”
