The 30 new jobs announced by McAfee for Co Cork this week provide an opportunity for talented software engineers to work in the area of creating leading-edge security technologies in the constant fight against cyber crime, according to the company.
The positions will be at its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) headquarters in Mahon, which it opened a year ago. They are part of a €6m IDA Ireland-supported investment that will bring the total number of McAfee employees in Ireland to 330.
“The ongoing success of McAfee in Ireland and the high quality of the workforce here led to the decision to locate this R&D investment in Cork. The investment will focus on cloud, anti-virus and encryption technologies,” said Paul Walsh, VP engineering, McAfee International.
Barry O’Leary, CEO of IDA Ireland, added: “McAfee’s latest investment in Cork is a welcome addition to the cluster of world-class, leading security software companies in Ireland and the cloud computing element to the investment will add to Ireland’s growing reputation as a global cloud centre of excellence.”
