Project managers are most in demand in the IT industry, a new survey from IT services and consultancy company IT Alliance suggests, closely followed by infrastructure engineers.
The IT Alliance Resourcing Services analysed 100 of the open roles it is recruiting on behalf of clients at the end of February to see what were the most in-demand positions.
Twenty-eight per cent of the open roles are for project managers, followed closely by infrastructure engineers at 26pc.
There is also major demand for desk side support, software testing and software development, particularly for Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft .NET developers. Each of these three categories make up 9pc of open roles.
“There is a significant increase in demand for project managers and business analysts in the early part of the year as organisations seek to implement their planned projects from their signed off budgets from the end of 2011,” said Rhona Scotland, head of Resourcing at IT Alliance Group.
