Software company SolanoTech will create 25 new jobs based in Athlone for software design and development engineers.
SolanoTech, a client of Enterprise Ireland, operates as a product and services company with a focus on control and management of networked TV over fixed and mobile IP broadband networks. Its services business is in high end systems design and software development in telecoms network management.
The company is based in the Midlands Innovation Research Centre in Athlone IT. It is involved with a number of collaborative projects with the Athlone IT Software Research Institute along with running a joint IPTV research project with the College of Engineering and Informatics in NUI Galway.
It was set up in 2007 by John Mee and Santanu Mazumdar, who both have international experience in telecom systems development.
“These job opportunities are being generated mainly in the design services area and the driver is the continued success of mobile broadband for our customer base,” said John Mee, CEO of SolanoTech.
“Athlone is a natural location for SolanoTech as there is a long history of telecom systems and software development in the area complemented by the presence of international firms, local indigenous companies and the AIT Software Research Institute all operating in the sector,” he said.
“This extension of our services business provides us with an ideal opportunity to grow and develop the company organically and achieve the product development goals we have set for SolanoTech,” said Santanu Mazumdar, CTO of SolanoTech.
