Today we continue our countdown of Ireland’s top jobs announcement stories of 2012. It was the year companies in sectors that are thriving despite the downturn – technology, science and pharma – created jobs in their organisations, ranging from multinationals to start-ups.
Agri-food and food innovation company Kerry Group, for example, announced 900 jobs, betting giant Paddy Power proclaimed 800 new jobs, and financial services giant Northern Trust revealed it would be hiring to fill 400 positions.

25 – MasterCard to create 130 new jobs at global technology HQ in DublinMore than 130 new technology jobs are to be created at MasterCard’s new technology operations, which will be headquartered in Dublin. The highly skilled jobs will be created with IDA Ireland support. Recruitment has already commenced. MasterCard has had an office in Dublin since 2008. It acquired Orbiscom in 2009 for US$100m. |

24 – Digital Marketing Institute to create 39 jobsThe Digital Marketing Institute revealed the creation of 39 new jobs over 18 months to support its global expansion. The jobs will be primarily based in Ireland. The Digital Marketing Institute, which was founded in 2008, is based in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin. The institute has grown from two to 15 employees. |

23 – Twitter creates 12 new jobs for Dublin baseTwitter advertised 12 new jobs for its Dublin operations in roles such as sales, support and administration. Stephen McIntyre, director of International Online Sales & Operations at Twitter, announced the new jobs on his own Twitter account. The social network had 17 open roles advertised at Twitter in Dublin. |

22 – HP tech jobs bonanza – 280 more jobs for IrelandTechnology giant HP is bringing 280 new jobs to Ireland – these will consist of 150 new R&D roles, plus 130 technical and support roles. The HP recruitment drive began immediately. HP employs more than 4,000 people across Ireland. |

21 – Malone Engineering to create 30 new jobs at Dublin baseIreland’s Jobs Minister Richard Bruton, TD, visited Malone Engineering at its Ballycoolin, Dublin 15, base to announce 30 new jobs at the company. The new roles increase the number of staff from 15 to 45 at Malone Engineering. According to the company, the 30 new positions will be particularly suitable for graduates in engineering and health and safety. |
