Dublin-based telematics company Transpoco has announced it’s to create 20 jobs, doubling its workforce, following the launch of its latest software product, SynX.
Based in Swords in north Co Dublin, Transpoco has been around since 2004, having developed vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions, beginning with a GPS tracking system for professional drivers with an aim of achieving greater fuel economy.
Following the creation of 10 jobs last year, its current staff number of 20 is expected to double to 40 by the end of 2016 to work on its latest product called SynX, which was developed following research and development support from Enterprise Ireland over the past two years.
The concept of SynX, much like its predecessor, is to integrate its GPS technology with cloud computing capable of handling data uploaded from a driver’s fuel card.
The customers Transpoco cites as using its service include local public institutions as well as transport companies and businesses that rely on driving for different reasons, such as couriers, cleaning and construction companies.
Speaking of its service, Transpoco’s CEO, Andrew Fleury, said that businesses are failing to exploit GPS technology.
“Fleet managers are not fully exploiting GPS tracking technology because they are too busy,” he said.
“While they use basic features of GPS, they never really get to the stage of accessing real business intelligence.”
