Energy provider Bord Gáis is to create 500 new jobs over the next three years, the result of investment in wind farms and its Home Services initiative.
The company is focusing on several investment areas over the coming years, CEO John Mullins said, such as investing €1bn in its pipeline network between now and 2019.
“As a dual-fuel energy supplier we are going to spend €2bn, as an energy company, in electricity,” Mullins said. “Also, we have significant wind targets out to 2020, such that we’ll have 20pc of our energy coming from renewable sources.”
The company’s annual report, published today, shows its pre-tax profits for 2009 were down 22pc over 2008.
