When you think of careers with Aer Lingus, you more than likely think of pilots, cabin crew and ground crew. You may be surprised, therefore, to learn that the Irish airline is also a huge provider of tech jobs.
When you think about it, perhaps it’s not so strange – Aer Lingus has a massive online presence, with digital and mobile offerings ranging from their website to their mobile app.
Siliconrepublic.com spoke to Ronan Fitzpatrick, director of digital and mobile at Aer Lingus, for the Employers to Watch 2016 series. He talked to us about recruitment at the airline, and about what makes Aer Lingus such a great place to work.
Aer Lingus employs more than 4,000 people, many of whom are working within the tech department in digital and mobile, digital experience and broader IT-based roles. A diverse staff brings a range of different perspectives and experiences to the team.
There are significant perks to working at Aer Lingus. The flights, of course, are a big part of that, but others – like location – shouldn’t be overlooked.
Based at Dublin Airport, the Aer Lingus offices are offices with a difference. Many of the internal rooms look out over the Aer Lingus hangar, where you can see the very first plane the airline ever flew commercially.
Aer Lingus is building its staff going into 2016, planning a lot of growth across mobile – iOS and Android – and Java architecture, and entering a phase of permanent recruitment.
