Accountancy software company Big Red Book is now offering its services in the cloud, in a move that will see 12 new jobs created within the company over the next 12 months.
“The Big Red Cloud application is designed to make your accounts even easier to manage and more mobile than ever,” explained Big Red Book CEO Marc O’Dwyer. “With the ability to log in anywhere and on almost any device, the flexibility and accessibility that this product provides makes it more efficient and cost-effective for our customers to do business.”
Big Red Book services are already used by more than 17,000 SMEs in Ireland and the UK, and a recent trial of Big Red Cloud with current subscribers saw 36pc converting to the cloud service within a month.
Teaming up with Microsoft
Big Red Cloud is hosted by Windows Azure, Microsoft’s cloud platform that lets businesses build applications using any language, tool or framework, and deploy and manage these across a global network of Microsoft-managed data centres.
“The cloud presents an opportunity for start-up companies to grow internationally very quickly,” said Paul Rellis, managing director of Microsoft Ireland. “To have a sustainable economy in Ireland in the future it is critical that we have a healthy indigenous business community. The cloud will be critical in helping this ambition to become a reality.”
Big Red Book is one of only 12 companies from Europe to have been selected for inclusion in Microsoft’s BizSpark programme, identifying the company as a high-potential start-up. While Big Red Cloud is committed to implementing best security practices, partnering with Microsoft also ensures maximum resilience in terms of data back-up.
