From software engineering to business development, these companies are all continuing to search for new sci-tech hires.
Since the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic reached Ireland, job security has been a concern for many people. Whether you’ve been let go, furloughed or just thinking of changing careers, you might be wondering how the recruitment landscape is looking at the moment.
To help, we reached out to a number of companies to confirm whether or not they’re still actively hiring in Ireland. From Dublin to Galway and from data analytics to global sales, check out some of the options below.
Fidelity Investments
Financial services firm Fidelity Investments hasn’t stopped hiring because of Covid-19. The company is still searching for talented engineers for both its Dublin and Galway offices, including senior software engineers, principal DevOps engineers and quality engineers.
The company told us that it is placing particular emphasis on hiring for cybersecurity positions and all levels of software engineering to help it deliver “critical services” to the US market. “Applicants can expect a virtual hiring and onboarding process throughout Covid-19,” it added.
BT
There are also jobs available in the telecoms industry. BT Ireland is hiring for a number of positions at the moment, which can be found on its careers page. If you’re on the lookout for an employer with a track record of prioritising the wellbeing of its staff, BT has previously been recognised as one of Ireland’s most responsible businesses and is a certified Healthy Place to Work.
The company’s HR director, Gillian McMahon, told us: “We are currently recruiting a number of senior professionals to join our global sales team, including one business development manager and two account directors. We are also seeking candidates for two senior IP network engineers to join our networks division.”
Liberty IT
At Liberty IT, more than 500 tech employees work across its Belfast and Dublin offices to engineer software and develop and deliver products to different stakeholders. The company is still working to expand its team, with vacancies in product design open in both locations as well as openings for tech leaders in the Dublin office.
Talent acquisition partner at Liberty IT, Stephen Killilea, said: “We are continuing to grow in Belfast and Dublin with a number of roles live now and in the coming weeks. For us, we are set up for full functionality working from home, so it’s business-as-usual for Liberty IT right now, which is great news.”
Earlier this year, the company was listed as a Great Place to Work, so it’s one to keep an eye on.
Slack
It probably comes as no surprise that teams at Slack are all-hands-on-deck at the moment. The online messaging platform has been busy catering to customers adjusting their workflows in a remote landscape.
We spoke to the company’s head of recruitment for EMEA, Lucy Ní Raghaill, who said that her team is hiring for positions all across the region. In Dublin specifically, Slack is hiring for a number of vacancies across customer success, engineering and BizOps. Check them out here.
Genomics Medicine Ireland
Genomics Medicine Ireland (GMI), which has been contributing to the efforts against Covid-19, is currently recruiting more people for its Dublin team.
In particular, GMI is looking to fill its available automation engineer position. HR generalist and recruiter Laura Braiden said: “We are looking for an automation engineer with experience dealing with laboratory Hamilton automation (robotics).
“We are looking for someone with five-plus years of experience in this area, so if you or someone in your network has these skills, please get in touch.”
TikTok
If you’re not already familiar with TikTok, the short-form mobile video platform, you’re bound to get to know it soon. It has been taking the social-media scene by storm over the past few months and now that we’re all spending far more time at home, it’s only becoming more popular. So, why not consider a job there?
According to its jobs portal, TikTok is hiring for a number of positions in Dublin. One that stood out while browsing its openings was a data analyst role in trust and safety, for which the company is seeking an experienced professional to drive quantitative analysis, develop analytical frameworks and design indicator systems, among other things.
New Relic
New Relic, the software solutions company with offices around the world, is also growing its Dublin team. On its careers portal you’ll find two software engineer vacancies alongside roles in operations, accounting and sales. If you’re eager to put your skills to use in a SaaS environment, it may be worthwhile keeping New Relic in mind.
The company told us: “As we’ve moved online and more people are working from home, IT staff are experiencing an uptick in their systems and their infrastructure capacity is largely being tested. Now, more than ever, companies are seeking solutions to cracks in their systems and New Relic is helping solve those issues.
“We are determined to continue to help customers monitor and manage their system demands and encourage anyone interested in helping us deliver more perfect software.”
Bristol Myers Squibb
At both its Dublin and Cruiserath facilities, Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) is also hiring. From quality operations to project management, and automation to procurement, there are a number of open positions to browse on the company’s site.
BMS Cruiserath HR business partner Aisling Boland said: “We are hiring as normal in BMS Ireland in order to continue to deliver high-quality medicines to patients.
“We are leveraging our digital capabilities by moving to virtual interviewing and virtual onboarding for some of our new employees. We have taken significant measures to protect the health and safety of our colleagues, deemed as essential workers who still come to work on site to ensure we can continue to deliver on our mission to deliver life-saving medicines for our patients.”
HubSpot
Though it almost seems like a different lifetime now, it was just a number of weeks ago that HubSpot announced its recruitment plans for 450 new jobs in Dublin. The news coincided with the company’s official opening of HubSpot House, a brand-new EMEA headquarters on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay.
The US technology company told us it is continuing to move ahead with its hiring plans, with a total of 44 positions currently open in Dublin, including software engineers, business developers and one fully remote account executive role.
Zalando
Online fashion platform Zalando is dedicated to the experiences of its customers, who make up a growing base of more than 31m people in 17 markets. The company’s Dublin site comprises a team of technology professionals working across software engineering, product development and digital experience, among other areas.
Zalando is recruiting for positions in Dublin at the moment, including product managers and front-end engineers. If you like the sound of working in a technology hub where consumer experience is the driving factor, it could be the company for you.
Mastercard
In February of this year, Mastercard opened a brand-new campus in Leopardstown, Dublin, along with 1,500 new jobs. It announced plans for its new site to become a key global hub for the payments technology company.
Mastercard is still moving ahead with its recruitment plans and is currently hiring for a wide range of jobs in Dublin. These include engineering positions across testing, quality and software as well other roles in management, BizOps and analysis.
Finally, just this week, Facebook announced its plans to continue growing its team in Ireland. Alongside a range of roles in Cork and Dublin, it’s seeking out candidates for its Calibra team, which is developing a digital wallet for the company’s Libra project.
The recruitment drive for this team will see 50 people hired by the end of the year. Calibra’s head of operations, Laura Morgan Walsh, told the Irish Times that the company is keen to continue its investment in the Dublin team “during this time of global uncertainty”.
