NIBRT showcases ‘jobs with purpose’ at Careers in Biopharma event

16 May 2016

The Irish biotech sector is booming, and with that comes a surge in jobs. The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT), this weekend held its third annual Careers in Biopharma job fair, with a view to showcasing career opportunities from some of Ireland’s biggest biotech companies.

The jobs fair, which took place at the NIBRT facility at UCD, brought together employers – including BMS, Amgen, Pfizer, BioMarin, Eli Lilly and MSD – and candidates for recruitment and networking.

“The Irish biopharma industry is experiencing a fantastic period of growth and has been boosted by a stream of significant new investments in recent months,” said Dominic Carolan, NIBRT CEO.

“With investment comes jobs, and we are hoping this year’s Careers in Biopharma jobs fair will match great candidates with suitable employers from across the industry.”

In addition to the recruitment that was taking place, the Careers in Biopharma event also included presentations from many of the biopharma companies exhibiting on the day.

The newly-appointed Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor, was at Saturday’s event, and said: “Ireland is recognised internationally as having a rich and strong pool of talent for the sector, and it is important that we continue to develop that talent pool over the coming years to meet the employment opportunities that are being created by the likes of the companies that are exhibiting here in NIBRT today.”

Siliconrepublic.com was down at the NIBRT event to speak to organisers, exhibitors and attendees:
