Irish smart camera player RE:SURE is to create 10 new jobs – eight in Ireland and two in the UK – after raising €250,000 in funding from existing investors.
RE:SURE focuses on three core areas for smart security – business, home and personal.
The company has reported revenue growth of 55pc in 2013 and 39pc in 2014 and plans further expansion in Ireland and the UK in 2015.
“Due to the rapid growth of our newly-launched RE:SURE Home services, we are looking to expand into the UK sooner than expected,” RE:SURE’s John McMahon explained.
“As a growing business, this new investment will help us to further stake our market claim as a leader in ‘transformative technology.’ The security industry has changed massively in the past decade and we’re at the forefront of that development.”
The new stars of CCTV
Traditional, passive CCTV cameras are becoming redundant and firms and homeowners are investing in smart cameras with the ability to issue live audio challenges the moment an intruder sets foot on property.
“Passive CCTV systems that have been traditionally used to secure commercial properties are essentially redundant, providing little deterrent and no prevention,” McMahon said.
“The traditional home alarm is effectively obsolete as it only tells you that you’re being burgled and doesn’t prevent an incident from occurring in the first place.”
RE:SURE has launched a new range of products that have smartphone apps at their core.
“RE:SURE GO is our latest product launch and takes us into the personal security market,” Emmet Hogan of RE:SURE added.
“It’s a new smartphone app that’s targeted at adults, parents with schoolchildren and lone workers. Essentially, it’s about us having your back if something goes wrong.
“Once RE:SURE GO is switched on it will give RE:SURE the user’s exact location, tracking their movements. In the event of an incident, a simple shake of their phone will immediately activate an alert in the RE:SURE Control Centre, showing their location and the phone will record and send video and audio clips to RE:SURE.
“This allows Control Centre to see and hear what is happening and react immediately to the situation at hand. The service costs €9.99 a month and there are no cancellation fees,” Hogan said.
The company has also launched RE:SURE for Business, which converts existing CCTV systems into smart cameras.
“RE:SURE for Business is a new level of protection that prevents break-ins from happening by intervening the moment an intruder steps foot on a property,” McMahon said.
“By taking an existing CCTV system and converting it to one that’s 2015 compatible and adding in a voice-based monitoring system, the risk of damage and theft, as well as physical confrontation, is reduced to virtually nil because of the pre-emptive nature of the system.
“Until our arrival in the market, the security industry was very much about a ‘one size fits all’. Well, of course, that’s not good enough. Each business has a different set of issues and challenges and operates on varying types of threat levels. That’s why we’re confident that RE:SURE will have a big impact and make such a difference.”
