Recruitment site Indeed.com is hiring 30 new staff, primarily due to growing confidence among SMEs in Ireland and across Europe.

Indeed opened its Dublin EMEA headquarters in 2012, and has now increased the team in Dublin to more than 200 staff.

The new roles will be in sales positions and further technical and support positions are expected to come on stream.

The numbers of visitors to Indeed’s site has risen 40pc in the last 12 months to 800,000 unique visitors (UVs) per month.

Job postings on Indeed.ie have also increased 9pc in the past 12 months, supported by improving economic conditions and a move from SMEs to put more of their open roles online.

Mobile searches account for 54pc of job-seeker visits

Ensuring job adverts are searchable and compatible with mobile devices is becoming increasingly crucial, as mobile searches now account for 54pc of job-seeker visits on Indeed, compared to 40pc 12 months ago.

“One of the biggest job growth categories both in Ireland and across our European business has been from small and medium-sized businesses,” explained Gerard Murnaghan, vice president of EMEA at Indeed.

“These types of companies have taken longer to feel the benefits of the economic recovery, but now have the confidence to hire aggressively, with levels growing 20pc year on year in many job categories, including healthcare and IT. We are delighted to be adding at least 30 new sales staff to our team to enhance Indeed’s offering to SME customers.

“SMEs in Ireland have historically been slow to leverage the benefits of online recruitment, often relying on word of mouth, shop window or classified advertisements. The advantage of putting your open roles online is that small business and big business are absolutely equal in the world of search.  A job seeker looking for a role online is just as likely to see a small company right next to a big company. This allows SMEs to compete for talent without having huge recruitment budgets.”
