US pharmacy and healthcare company CVS Caremark is to create 100 jobs at its IT development centre in Belfast following a stg£725,000 (€905,000) investment from Invest NI.
CVS Caremark’s Northern Ireland Development Centre, which has been open since 2012, creates software solutions for all parts of the Rhode Island-based company, with particular focus on internet and mobile applications.
Invest NI expects to contribute about stg£3.3m (€4.1m) a year in salaries to the local economy.
“This investment further underlines Northern Ireland’s attractiveness to global companies, which has been demonstrated by a number of significant inward investments in recent months,” said Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Arlene Foster.
Foster also said CVS Caremark decided to create the additional jobs in Belfast because the local management team has been successful in attracting and retaining highly skilled software engineers and QA testers.
Ronan O’Loan, CVS Caremark’s senior vice-president, Talent and Organizational Effectiveness, added that Northern Ireland is a proven source of great IT talent.
“Attracting, developing and retaining top IT professionals are key differentiators that enable us to create innovative healthcare solutions,” said O’Loan.
“We are delighted to offer even more career opportunities at our development centre here in Belfast.”
