Photographing Dublin in sunlight can be enough of a challenge on the ground, but up in the International Space Station waiting for fair weather to photograph Ireland’s capital city paid off for astronaut Luca Parmitano.
Parmitano snapped a photo of Dublin from above and shared it on his Twitter account today, declaring “I had to wait but it was worth it: a sunny #Dublin!” He also shared the same message and photo in his native Italian.
The European Space Agency astronaut has shared other photos taken from his vantage point aboard the orbiting space lab of other locations around the world, most recently of Italy and the Canary Islands.
Parmitano and his crewmates Karen Nyberg and Fyodor Yurchikhin will be leaving the International Space Station to return to Earth on 10 November, ending their five-month mission aboard the station.
