Dublin-based digital-marketing firm Cybercom walked away on Monday night with the prestigious title of Best Digital Communications Campaign from the global marketing communications awards, the 2008 MAA Globes, in Toronto for its ‘Never Give Up’ ad campaign.

Cybercom, sponsor of the Best eCommerce/Services Website at this year’s inaugural Irish Web Awards, designed the winning digital campaign for Powerade, which included a viral video campaign with a personalised pep talk from Munster rugby player Paul O’Connell.

The campaign also included a website packed with tips and expert advice from GAA figures, as well as a team blog with regular updates and video diaries.

“We are absolutely delighted to have won a Globe. This is international ‘best of class’ standard in marketing, so it’s an excellent achievement for the Irish marketing industry and digital marketing in particular,” said Forrest, managing director of Cybercom.

Rob Reid, director at Cybercom, told Siliconrepublic.com that the firm was delighted to have been recognised on the global stage for the first time: “This is the first-ever Globe won by an Irish marketing agency of any type, which makes it an even greater achievement for the Irish digital industry.”

The ‘Never Give Up’ campaign beat off competition from Vietnam and Australia to take the Best Digital Communications Campaign category and, in fact, has already won seven awards, including the Grand Prix at the APMC (Association of Promotional Marketing Consultants) and an award at the Coca-Cola Worldwide Marketing Awards.

Cybercom has also designed campaigns for other global companies, including the Bosco Is Back online campaign for Vodafone Ireland.
