Maybefriends.com, the Irish online dating website of recruitment company Saongroup.com, has acquired the Irish online dating service Singleinthecity.ie.
Singleinthecity.ie is a Cork-based dating service. The amount of the investment is undisclosed.
“We are very pleased to conclude this transaction with Singleinthecity.ie as it will enhance our overall presence and scale in the online dating sector,” said Jill McGrath, managing director, Maybefriends.com. “In particular, it is a significant enhancement of our business in Cork and in Munster. In Cork alone there are more than 132,000 singles over the age of 25.”
“Saongroup.com is further broadening its horizons in the Irish online dating sector with the acquisition of Singleinthecity.ie,” said Ciaran McCooey, group CEO, Saongroup.com. “This is a positive early development in our online activity, following our recent acquisition of Maybefriends.com.”
The move represents further diversification of the Saongroup, whose primary concentration is in online recruitment. Its websites include Irishjobs.ie, NIJobs.ie and Jobs.ie.
