Microsoft, which yesterday unleashed an Xbox LIVE app for iOS devices, has confirmed there are no imminent plans to release an Android version of the app.
“We have nothing to announce on Android,” the spokesperson confirmed, pointing out that an Xbox LIVE companion is also available for Windows Phone devices.
On Tuesday, 6 December, Microsoft rolled out a free update that will transform the Xbox 360 games console into an all-in-one entertainment device. The new services employ Kinect’s voice technology to help users discover content, surf TV channels, connect socially and search Bing.
Microsoft also rolled out a free Xbox Companion app for Windows Phone that lets users find, learn more about and control content from Xbox LIVE.
Yesterday, Microsoft revealed that the Xbox LIVE experience is now available as an iOS app that can be used on iPhones, iPod touch and iPad devices.
The new app allows you to bring your 3D avatar on the move with you and lets users track and compare game achievements and chat with Xbox LIVE friends. The new app also lets users review Xbox LIVE content, including game trailers and multiplayer maps.
Alas, Android smartphone users will have to wait a while for this functionality.
