A useful online map of Ireland's growing start-up ecosystem has been created
A very useful, living and breathing online map has been produced by Start-up Ireland that takes into account the entire start-up ecosystem in Ireland, including start-ups, accelerators co-working spaces and more.
Produced ahead of the Start-up Gathering this October, the map will always be a work in progress. Anyone who wants their start-up added to the list should email michaelguerin@startupireland.ie.
For anyone trying to get a grasp of the start-ups of today, access incubators, investors, co-working spaces, accelerators and lots more, it is a fine, detailed piece of work.
The map lists, for example, more than 844 start-ups, 132 multinationals as well as 71 sources of funding.
It lists 35 incubators, 15 accelerators and 18 tech transfer offices of colleges and universities.
It even lists 13 embassy representatives, a crucial and useful detail that any start-up focused on international sales and exports would be wise to take note of.
The Start-up Gathering initiative takes place between 5 and 10 October. Backed by the Irish Government and led by Start-up Ireland, it will see Dublin, Cork, Galway, Waterford and Limerick hold events for five days to showcase the start-up scene “to up to 15,000 people”.

The event is aimed at highlighting the current start-up environment to attract investors from abroad, as well as lure foreign start-ups to Ireland to set up a base in the country.
The end goal for the organisers of the event is to encourage networking opportunities between attending start-ups and hopefully see the creation of at least 2,500 new jobs in the following 12 months.
The Start-up Ireland partnership also has plans in place to make Ireland a global start-up hub by 2020, with hackathon incubators and mentoring programmes to take place during the event in October.
