NDRC’s latest LaunchPad programme has come to a conclusion, with SkyTango – a digital start-up specialising in film production and drone technology – coming out top of the pile.
A total of 11 start-ups took part in the 12-week LaunchPad, with the conclusion seeing SkyTango winning the final pitch at NDRC’s investor day.
As a result, the “aerial marketplace” company secured €30,000 in follow-on investment – each of the 11 start-ups had received up to €20,000 in pre-seed investment to get to this stage.
SkyTango was set up by film and television producers, directors, editors and drone operators, with them planning to offer tools to make skies more commercial.
“We seek founders and start-up teams that can show us that there is something innovative about their approach in addressing a large market problem combined with significant levels of insight and knowledge into a particular domain,” said Gary Leyden, NDRC’s commercial director.
“SkyTango have demonstrated this in their entire approach.”
The start-ups that took part in the Launchpad programme were: BiopharmaWatch, Bioscreen Health, Dynamic Res, Express Empire, GRAMMA Music, Groopeze, Recipe Guru, Rook, Seen on Set, SkyTango, SwitchMetrics.
“We have seen some exceptional new companies come through NDRC’s investment programmes over the last numbers of years, helping create a value-add effect across Ireland’s entire technology startup ecosystem,” added Ben Hurley, NDRC’s CEO.
