Pitchify is the latest social connector for students, early stage start-ups, techies and wannabe entrepreneurs to hit the Dublin tech scene.

The movement is specifically targeted at students and has been set up by Brian Daly, a fourth-year student at National College of Ireland, and Darren Mulvihill, a former student at the college who now works at Lucey Technology.

The duo is planning to hold events each month, with the next Pitchify session taking place on Wednesday, 26 September, at 4 Dame Lane in Dublin City.

Daly and Mulvihill have lined up James Whelton, the teenage programmer who co-founded the CoderDojo youth coding movement and who has also founded Disruptive Developments, to speak to students and the tech community about his experiences as a young Irish entrepreneur.

At the first Pitchify held in August, Niall Harbison, the co-founder of the social media agency Simply Zesty, which TV and internet player UTV plc acquired back in March, spoke about his journey as a self-starter.

According to Daly and Mulvihill, they are hoping to grow Pitchify as an event series to help inspire and educate students about entrepreneurship and as a networking event to enable people make connections.

“We want to educate and inform students about the start-up scene in Ireland, as well as accelerators, such as Launchpad at the NDRC and Startupbootcamp. We also want the events to be social, to help people make connections,” said Daly.
