If you missed the sixth Digital Ireland Forum, hosted by Silicon Republic in the Convention Centre Dublin on Friday, video highlights are now live. So you can pick up some nuggets of digital wisdom from AOL’s digital prophet David Shing, a vision of digital government from Ireland’s first Government CIO Bill McCluggage, thoughts on changing Ireland’s education system for the better from Minister Ciaran Cannon … and much more.

Video highlights of all the speakers and panels from the Digital Ireland Forum: Global 2.0 are now live on the forum website.

In his opening address Ciaran Cannon, TD, Minister for Training and Skills at the Department of Education and Skills, told delegates Irish school kids are waiting for the education system to catch up, and he outlined some of the crucial changes that are afoot.

In his rapid-fire keynote, Shing explained how we’re leaving the age of social and entering the age of context, while McCluggage outlined a vision for a connected, cost-efficient digital government.

In the first leaders’ panel, Colm O’Neill of BT and Anna Scally of KPMG joined Dell’s Liam Halpin and the Digital Hub’s Edel Flynn to discuss with McCluggage the need to update the public procurement process. They also picked up on the theme raised by Cannon on making Ireland’s education system fit for purpose.

In the second leaders’ panel, Eircom’s Herb Hribar and Interxion’s Tanya Duncan joined TelecityGroup’s Maurice Mortell and Storm Technology’s Karl Flannery to debate how we can make Ireland a global tech epicentre, with Shing, who suggested Ireland had all the right components but might not be getting its message out there. He suggested, among other things, that Irish people needed to ‘swagger’ more.
