Actor Leonardo DiCaprio may have lost out on an Oscar in Los Angeles again last night, but he’s a winner when it comes to inspiring internet memes on the subject.
DiCaprio’s Academy Award – otherwise known as Oscar – nominations include Best Actor in a Supporting Role for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for The Aviator (2004) and Blood Diamond (2006). He was also up for an Oscar last night for Wolf of Wall Street, as a producer, and for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.
Instead, Matthew McConaughey walked away with the best actor Oscar last night for his role in Dallas Buyers Club.
DiCaprio is generally a highly regarded actor and the fact he’s never won an Academy Award – the pinnacle of recognition when it comes to movies – has left fans, at least, scratching their heads. (‘Leo‘ is even trending on Twitter in Ireland this morning).
The Los Angeles Times has even penned an article on Oscar eluding DiCaprio, pointing out that while DiCaprio has never won the award, he has nothing to prove.
