A more scientific approach is needed when it comes to tackling the under-representation of women in tech, Accenture research shows.
According to research released in time for the 20th International Women’s Day (IWD) event held by Accenture, young women are significantly less confident in their digital skills compared to their male peers.
Accenture’s study found that 59pc of young women think they have the tech knowledge necessary to succeed at work, whereas 80pc of young men are confident in their tech prowess.
As part of its efforts to encourage women of all ages into tech careers, Accenture’s IWD event gathered together some of the company’s top women leaders as well as people such as Dr Catherine Day, who is a former secretary general of the European Commission, to discuss the need for more women in tech.
Day pointed out that listening is all well and good, but measuring data is key to implementing programmes to get women into tech. “What gets measured gets done,” she said.
