University of Limerick president Dr Des Fitzgerald sat down with Siliconrepublic.com to discuss future plans for the university and how higher education is evolving.

In 2019, the University of Limerick revealed its five-year plan, UL@50, which will start taking shape this year.

University president Dr Des Fitzgerald told us more about this plan, which includes the development of a new city campus in Limerick. He also told us how education and research programmes at the university are transforming, particularly in the face of rapidly changing technology.

“You can’t just teach people technology,” said Fitzgerald. “You have to teach them fundamental disciplines that underpin technology.”
