Enterprise Ireland’s Founder of the Year event recognises high-potential start-up entrepreneurs.

After being a pharmacy technician for more than two decades, Sinéad Crowther decided to move to a life of entrepreneurship about six years ago. One start-up and countless hours of work later, she was recognised by Enterprise Ireland as Founder of the Year last month.

One of four finalists at the event held in Dublin on 12 October, Crowther shared the stage with Liam Dunne of Klearcom, Evelyn Kelly of Orphan Drug Consulting and Eamonn Costello of PatientMPower.

After a round of questions, Crowther was crowned winner for Soothing Solutions, a Louth-based start-up that she co-founded with Denise Lauaki. Soothing Solutions makes a range of honey jelly pops called Tonstix that provide an alternative to children’s lozenges to alleviate sore throats and coughs caused by viruses, colds, hay-fever and other allergies.

“Sinéad is an excellent example of a founder with a clear pathway to scaling globally and the potential to become a world leader in her field,” said Joe Healy, divisional manager of client services at Enterprise Ireland.
