We spoke to Minister Peter Burke, TD, Enterprise Ireland’s Leo Clancy and Aerogen’s John Power about the exciting year ahead for Ireland's organisations.

According to Enterprise Ireland’s (EI) end-of-year results for 2024, the future for Ireland’s businesses and employees, particularly in the west, looks bright.

With the announcement that 64pc of jobs generated by EI-affiliated companies were outside of Dublin and in light of the creation of 725 new Aerogen roles in Galway and Shannon, the west is solidifying itself as a hub for professional growth and expansion.

“To have 64pc of jobs outside of Dublin really feeds into government policy through the National Planning Framework, ensuring that our regions get an equal share of growth that we have in our country,” said Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Peter Burke, TD.

Commenting on the trajectory for the west, Enterprise Ireland’s CEO Leo Clancy said: “We saw continued growth of jobs, 3pc last year, which is good, healthy growth, that we now have a record level of jobs in our clients portfolio, so that’s really positive. The other highlights are that the jobs are regionally based to a large extent.

“So we have seen an average of 3pc, but areas such as the west where we are now at 6pc and that’s good to see that regional growth because it’s hard to get. Nearly, of all our portfolio is outside of Dublin and that’s a key objective for the organisation.”
