Aurora Telecom’s Sean O’Donnell discusses how Covid-19 has changed Ireland’s telecoms industry and what lies ahead in network connectivity.
The beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic was marked by an immediate shift to remote work and increased demand for streaming services – both activities that required strong network connectivity, putting pressure on the telecoms space in Ireland.
“In Ireland, there’s a huge demand on digital connectivity, in particular for video conferencing, and I think the robustness of the network and the utilities across Ireland shone through,” said Sean O’Donnell, general manager of Aurora Telecom.
He spoke to SiliconRepublic.com about the tech behind Ireland’s connectivity, from dark fibre to subsea cables.
