Aon's Amy Harding and Wouter Bosschaart discuss various 'megatrends' that are expected to boost the insurance industry.

There are various trends that look set to create new opportunities for the insurance industry, but the metaverse has the potential to shake it up the most.

That’s according to Amy Harding, a manager in Aon’s Strategy and Technology Group (STG) and one of the authors behind Aon’s Transformative Trends report.

This report combined a treasure trove of data and interviews to find the ‘megatrends’ that are expected to boost the global insurance market.

Aon predicts that these megatrends will create more than $200bn of market potential for insurers by 2030, with some of the biggest trends being the metaverse, shared mobility and a rise in intellectual property.

The report co-author Wouter Bosschaart, an Aon STG director, explained that the insurance sector appears “quite enthusiastic” about these various potential megatrends.
